You never know how long you have...

I thought I would post so that I could remember this date throughout my life.
I was shocked to hear last night that my dad went to the neurologist and got the diagnosis of having mini strokes for the last 21 years. These mini strokes and heart problems have resulted in Dementia and Alzheimers disease. He is not in the beginning stages, he is in the moderate to advanced stages. He will need to be put in a home in the next 3-5 years. All I can say, is WOW! It is weird that I will have no parents to support me or be in my life in the next 5 years. All I hope to do is stay strong and keep my family together. I hope to visit my dad as much as I can before he leaves this earth to see my mom again.

Life changes when you least expect it.

Wow Helen, you have had to deal with a lot in the last several years. I hope you can find peace in all this. It sounds like you have a good attitude to help you get along. My prayers are with you.
