Dinner and Caroling

I love to carol with my family at christmas time. My sisters Tami, Mel, Cyndi, and my nephew Alonzo went with me to my cousin Kathleens house in Riverton. We ate a great dinner of Hawaiian Hay Stacks then we went caroling to our cousins house and some friends. I was so happy when my sisters agreed to go with me. I was able to persuade my cousin Kathleen and her kids to go to! We all had a blast! I hope to make this a tradition every year.
Here are some pictures.

Off Track & Holiday Time

Hey Ya'll!
I am off track til the 5th of January! Nice break huh. Can't beat all the vacation time a teacher gets. It makes up for all the hard work it is to be a teacher. Kids just aren't respectful like we were. It is really scary how parents aren't parenting their kids right. I had a kid sarcastically talk back to me a few days before we went off track. This is a kicker! My kids were in groups doing a skit on one of the chapters they read in a book about the Japanese Internment camps during WW11. Time was running out so I just announced to the groups time keepers to check the time. I said, "What time is it?" The time keepers looked up and then I hear from the back of the room, " It's time for you to get a watch and quit asking questions!" Imagine that! I kid said that out loud to me. I was pissed! I was shocked that a kid would say that to a teacher. He got in trouble from me. I called his mom, and she says, " Just so you know, we talk like that at home." I told her that I didn't care that he talks like that at home, but it is not appropriate at school! I wanted to give the kid some "SLAPS!" lol.

So as you can see, I was very excited to get away from the kids.

On to the fun stuff...
I have been santa claus and shopping for my families gifts. I decorated my little tree. I don't have a big tree because I live in an apartment with my sister Mel. I will get a big tree when I get a house....Some day!lol.

My sister Cyndi is coming to Utah to spend the Holidays. I am very excited. I hope to get to the slopes this winter. I really want to learn how to ski or snowboard! I also can't wait til I go sledding. I love to slide down things. LOL. WHO KNEW.

I hope everyone has a great and fun filled Holiday season!

Parent teacher conferences are coming up in a week. Stress!! I love reading everyones blog. Toodles.lol.

Rise and Shine the Cougars are out...RAW,RAW,RAW.

I went to the BYU/New Mexico game with a friend of mine on Sat. Holy cow was it cold! I did bundle up, but my toes froze. LOL. We left 5 minutes early to beat traffic and boy was that smart. I couldn't feel my toes the entire 3 mile walk to where our car was parked. Okay, it felt like 3 miles. Get this, I just happened to pick home coming week. Good one Helen! lol. I wanted to go to at least one BYU game so I can say that I've been to one. My only memory of BYU football was sitting at home in Hawaii and watching it on t.v. I never really was a big fan of BYU, but I had to support my parents alma mater. I am a BOWS FAN!!! To my shock and surprise the fans were really quiet. The most sound I heard out of people was....wait for it........IT'S ANOTHER COUGAR....(they all yelled)....1ST DOWN!. lol. I had more fun at our Kahuku games. We definitely had school pride!!! Over all I had a fun time.
I didn't take a picture because it was too cold to take one.lol. My next adventure hopefully will be indoor paint ball with the fam.

School

So, today was my track on day at school. Boy did I work hard to get photocopying done!lol. We do have aides to help with that, but I find it easier to do it myself. I'm excited to start school again. For those of you who don't know, I teach 5th grade in Riverton, Utah. I happen to be at a school that is on a track system (year round school). I am happy to be working in a great school! The teachers are awesome! The school is all indoors meaning air con for the hot summer and heating in the winter. Pretty Cool. Coming from Hawaii this is all new to me. I sometimes miss our open air classrooms. Growing up I loved to look outside at the coconut trees swaying back and forth in the lovely Hawaiian breeze. I felt free and not confined. Looking back, I wasn't always paying attention in school.lol.
This year I am participating in a technology project with 2 other teachers from my school for Jordan District. I figured out that I like learning how a computer works. What I most enjoy is doing projects with the cool programs they have out there. ie.blogs. Oh yeah, I can't forget, I am one of the student council representatives. I am busy this year!
Alohaz.

The picture has nothing to do with school. This is a great picture of the coconut trees swaying in the breeze.

The summer was a blast!

For those of you who know me, I am a person who loves to hang out with friends and family. This summer I was very fortunate to have 5 sisters out of 6 come to Utah and visit. We had a blast at our Pond Family Renunion, and playing around as a family. I even got to see Amy for a couple of hours while she was here in Utah. I hope to see many more of my friends that live here in Utah. It is weird that we all migrated to Utah!LOL

Visiting Julie in Idaho

I had a blast with Julie a week ago. I was off track so I decided to drive 5 1/2 hrs. to see Julie. It had been about 2 years since I had seen her. Julie has a beautiful daughter who is very smart! I am proud to be Aunty Helen!
